This position encompasses the following summary of responsibilities for automotive paint finishing, industrial and commercial sheet metal projects and associated ventilation systems:
Sales
- Review and qualify Request for Quote / Request for Proposal inquiries
- Participate in bid meetings and on-site project walkthroughs
- Provide proposal development and qualifications based upon project scope of work to customer
Estimating
- Develop estimates based upon customer specifications, standards and proposal breakdown
- Perform sheet metal / steel material, fabrication and installation estimates
- Outline project scope and responsibility matrices for subcontractors and purchased equipment vendors, including the solicitation of pricing by developing and sending out RFQs
Project planning
- Champion job kickoff and coordination meetings with engineering, superintendent, shop, subcontractors and customer
- Coordinate all activities between owner, subcontractors, equipment vendors and site
Safety planning
- Coordinate with safety team for project requirements
- Work with company safety personnel for assignment of necessary field safety personnel, development of jobsite safety plans and performing onsite audits
Design Coordination
- Engage engineering teams (internal and external) to develop necessary designs and drawings
- Review of equipment vendor proposals with engineering for specification compliance
Project Management
- Direct and coordinate all facets of the project life cycle per company’s structured checklist
- Generate necessary purchase orders for material and equipment procurement
- Generate necessary subcontracts as required for all subtrades
- Organize and maintain all job records – electronic and hardcopy
- Generate and compile all customer closeout documentation
Job Financials
- Create and maintain budget as developed from the proposal estimate
- Track monthly work in process projections and reporting
- Develop schedule of values and monthly billing percentages for accounting
Labor Management
- Coordinate with labor superintendent to execute field installation
- File necessary labor agreements, such as NMA site extension requests
- Coordinate and attend Pre-Job meetings at local labor union hall
Subcontractor Management
- Review of subcontractor proposals for specification compliance
- Gather necessary documentation for safety plans, insurance certificates, manpower loading, training records, drug testing and special labor agreements (i.e., National Maintenance Agreement)
Scheduling
- Develop and maintain project schedule for execution of the work
- Coordinate and compiling timing information from engineering, subcontractors and equipment vendors
- Publish updates to internal and external teams
Commissioning
- Coordinate mechanical and electrical commissioning teams
- Coordinate airflow and mechanical balancing teams
- Compile all necessary start-up, commissioning documentation, operations and maintenance manuals.
Position Requirements, Skills & Experience
- Experience in Industrial Ventilation and Paint Finishing Processes
- Ability to review drawings and perform manual estimates / proposals
- BIM experience/coordination
- Experienced in Excel, Word, Project and Outlook email software (Office365)
- Strong reading/writing skills for proposal development and email correspondence
- Ability to manage turn-key projects
- Degree preferred
- Travel to job sites both in and out of state required.
- Capable of running multiple projects from $25k – $15 Million
- Primary office location is the main office in Detroit
