Mental Health Awareness
We believe that a healthy, thriving workplace starts with supporting the people in it. Whether you’re navigating stress, personal challenges, or simply looking to strengthen your mental wellness, these resources are available to you at any time. Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed every May since 1949 to fight stigma, support recovery, and educate the public. Led by organizations like Mental Health America (MHA) and SAMHSA, it focuses on promoting mental wellness, providing resources, and supporting those with mental health conditions.
Key Aspects for 2026:
- Theme: MHA’s 2026 theme is “More Good Days, Together,” focusing on personalized, community-based support.
- Color/Symbol: The green ribbon is the universal symbol for mental health awareness.
- Purpose: To normalize conversations about mental health, emphasize that mental care is as vital as physical care, and highlight that everyone deserves support.
How to Get Involved:
- Share Stories: Use social media, such as sharing personal experiences with hashtags like #MyMentalHealth or #MentalHealthMonth.
- Utilize Toolkits: Use SAMHSA’s 2026 digital toolkit for email signatures, social media graphics, and educational materials.
- Advocate & Educate: Wear a green ribbon, attend community events, or share educational resources from organizations like NAMI, MHA, or SAMHSA.
- Prioritize Self-Care: Engage in mindfulness, set boundaries on social media/news, and check in on your own mental health.
Other Mental Health Awareness Months:
- July: Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (BIPOC Mental Health Month).
- September: National Suicide Prevention Month.
- October: National Depression and Mental Health Screening Month.
